Architecture in Rânca
Rânca, the resort at 1,600 metres on the Transalpina road, is an area where Tomarhi has actually built its portfolio: our A-frame holiday house is located here, designed for the mountain climate, steep slopes and year-round use.
Designing at this altitude has rules of its own: heavy snow loads, wind, foundations on sloping ground, mountain access and utilities. We handle them as one integrated project, from concept and structure to building services and permitting, supported by our Novaci office at the foot of the road to the resort.
Holiday homes, A-frame cabins and tourism investments in Rânca and along the Transalpina, designed as one integrated project for mountain conditions.

Frequently asked questions
Have you already designed at Rânca?
Yes. The portfolio includes an A-frame holiday house at Rânca, designed around the steep slope of the site and the mountain conditions of the area.
What does a site at altitude demand in addition?
Slope, access and exposure bear directly on the foundation, the structure and the envelope. That is why site analysis comes before the brief is framed, not after.
What makes an A-frame house special in the mountains?
The triangular silhouette with steep pitches sheds snow naturally, offers an efficient structure and a contemporary expression. These are the reasons the typology works so well in Rânca.
